Refugio County Citation-to-Warrant Path
A traffic citation starts with the court named on the ticket. Failure to respond by the appearance date can lead to an FTA charge and arrest warrant; failure to satisfy a fine judgment may involve capias pro fine process. Refugio County has city traffic matters in Bayside, Refugio, and Woodsboro Municipal Courts, plus county or precinct citations assigned to JP1 or JP2.
JP1's response form warns that a missed response date can add a $350 FTA charge, issue an arrest warrant, and affect license renewal. That figure is from an older JP1 form, not a countywide rule or JP2 policy. Call the court named on the citation for current instructions.
Refugio County Traffic Warrants Explained
Refugio County traffic process is split by the court on the citation. City ordinance and traffic tickets stay with a municipal court; county or precinct traffic matters go to the assigned JP. A missed appearance, failure to respond, or unpaid judgment may create separate court consequences. The issuing court decides whether the record is a warrant, FTA, or capias pro fine.
This is a court-record question. It is not a driving-history, insurance, points, or license-screen product. Ask the court whether a warrant is active and what approved action will clear it.
Refugio Municipal TrafficPayment Scope
The Refugio Municipal Court vendor page is the only local citation search interface found. It says it is not for Refugio County court citations and lists six search paths. It does not provide a warrant-number field, active-status filter, or countywide list. Use it only when the case belongs to Refugio Municipal Court.
| Search route | Fields shown | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| License | Number and state | Refugio Municipal Court citations |
| Name | Last name and DOB | City-court violation search |
| Plate | Number and state | Citation/payment record |
| Citation | Number and DOB | No warrant-number search |
| Account or service address | Account, or first/last name | No citywide active-warrant roster |
For another city's ticket, use that municipal clerk. The municipal court contact map gives the other local routes.
Checking for a Traffic Warrant
Refugio County has no sheriff name-search portal. Start with the citation and call the court printed on it. Have the name, date of birth, and citation or account number ready; ask the clerk whether a warrant was issued and whether an appearance is required.
- For a Refugio city ticket, use TrafficPayment or call the municipal court at 361-526-5364.
- For Bayside, call 361-529-6520; its page says payment information is coming soon.
- For Woodsboro, call 361-543-4506; no public citation search was located.
- For a county citation, use JP1 at 361-526-4877 or JP2 at 361-526-1635 based on precinct.
- If the court cannot release status by phone, ask how to request a releasable record or visit the clerk.
Refugio County JP Citation Checks
JP1 and JP2 do not share one public search form. The JP1 reply form gives response instructions for the citation it covers and warns that a phone call is not an appearance. JP2's official contact is separate, and the older JP1 $350 FTA warning should not be carried over as JP2 policy.
For either court, read the precinct on the ticket and ask about the exact FTA amount, appearance requirement, payment method, and recall record. A payment sent to the wrong court may not resolve the case. The county's official precinct map helps identify which justice court holds the citation.

Inside a Traffic Warrant Record
No sample Refugio County traffic-warrant entry or local number format was published. A citation portal may show a violation and payment balance, not a warrant record. Ask the clerk for the cause or citation number and the court's own status wording.
| Citation / warrant number | Local format not published; use the identifier on the ticket or from the clerk. |
|---|---|
| Violation | Offense or ordinance listed by the court; the local sample schema is not public. |
| Issuing court | Refugio, Bayside, Woodsboro, JP1, or JP2 as shown on the citation. |
| Fine / bond | Confirm the current amount and type with the issuing court. |
| Status | Ask whether the warrant is active, recalled, or cleared; a payment result alone is not enough. |
Refugio Municipal Full-Payment Notice
TrafficPayment says all Refugio Municipal Court payments, including warrants, must be paid in full unless the court is contacted about partial payment. Deferred-disposition, driving-safety-course, and payment-plan payments are excluded from that page. The vendor also warns that a rejected or refunded payment may not return the processing fee.
Call the court before paying if the result shows a warrant or a balance that seems wrong. Ask whether a partial payment, appearance, or plan is allowed and whether the court will recall the warrant when the required action is complete. Keep the receipt and ask for written clearance.
How to Pay or Lift a Traffic Warrant
Refugio County courts control payment, appearance, and recall. Do not send money until the court confirms the case, amount, and accepted method. The Refugio city portal is only one municipal channel; Bayside, Woodsboro, and both JP courts require direct follow-up.
- Confirm the issuing court, process label, balance, bond, and appearance rule.
- Ask whether a voluntary appearance, full payment, payment plan, or judge-approved reset applies.
- Use only the court's approved method; save a receipt or written order.
- Ask when the court will record the recall and report FTA/FTP compliance to DPS.
- Confirm the court's status directly; a license-hold screen is a separate record.
Warning: Do not assume an online payment cleared the warrant. The issuing court must confirm recall and any separate DPS update.
Refugio County DPS Holds Are Separate
Texas DPS may deny license renewal after a participating court reports failure to appear or pay. That compliance status is separate from the court warrant. DPS says license specialists cannot see whether an outstanding warrant exists, and a paid citation can take up to seven business days to clear after court processing.
If the violation remains “Outstanding,” contact the court that reported it. Refugio County readers should ask two questions: whether a warrant is active, and whether the court has sent the compliance update. OmniBase handles the second issue, not the first.
Traffic Warrants, FTA, and License Holds
One Refugio County citation can raise separate questions about a warrant, an FTA or capias pro fine, and a DPS license-renewal hold. The court controls the warrant and case; DPS tracks reported compliance. Use the county warrant lookup steps for the wider court-by-court search path.
| Mechanism | What Triggers It | What It Does |
|---|---|---|
| Traffic warrant | Missed date or other court process | May authorize arrest; ask the issuing court |
| FTA / capias pro fine | Failure to appear or satisfy a judgment | Separate court record with its own resolution |
| DPS license hold | Court reports FTA/FTP compliance issue | May block renewal; not a warrant confirmation |
